Lisa Barao

Lisa Barao is an Assistant Professor at Westfield State University and a Research Fellow with CJP. She earned her master’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Massachusetts Lowell and earned her Ph.D. in Criminology & Justice Policy from Northeastern University. Dr. Barao’s teaching areas include topics in law enforcement, the administration of justice, and evidence-based policing. She has taught at Central Connecticut State University, Goodwin College, and Northeastern University. Her research interests focus on crime prevention and violence reduction strategies, the evaluation of law enforcement technologies, and issues in the police organizational culture. She has worked on projects with several police agencies located in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, and California. Dr. Barao is a member of the American Society of Criminology, the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, and the American Society of Evidence-Based Policing.
